Ava and Nathan didn't always get along, it was expected with them being siblings, but the way Ava dismissed him so often just got under Nathan's skin more than other stuff did. That's one of the reasons Nathan loved dragging Ava into his video games. She did play video games, but she just didn't really enjoy rpgs, so Nathan had the advantage with this, she couldn't treat him like a second fiddle when he was better at it. Ava dragged her feet whenever Nathan asked her to play, eventually though they found a game they both really enjoyed. It was mainly about starting up a small town, seeing it grow, protect it from monsters, and a few other things, so it had stuff that appealed to them both, so that's how they spent a lot of time together. After a long while the game grew stale though, they had started it over and over again and enjoyed it, but after doing basically everything the game had to offer it wasn't that fun. They still spent plenty of time together, but for most things one of them wasn't the biggest fan for it and was mostly just doing it to be with the other, but a few years passed and eventually the game they loved got a sequel and then there they were again, hopefully this entry in the series will be just as good as the last one, but either way together they could have a great time. As the title screen finished it's animation Ava let Nathan press start, the opening cutscene played and they were psyched for the start of their new adventure. {275 words}

When Christopher was younger looking through old journals of long dead strangers was something that he found endlessly fascinating. Journals are something you think of that are so personal that you would never think of somebody reading them except if you're worrying about someone in your present day. So many unread stories, sadly they usually stay unknown to anybody but the original writer. Christopher wanted to change that a little bit though, reading all of the old journals that he could find. Yes they weren't really a common commodity, with and people just not keeping them, and not everybody being able to write back then, but there were still quite a few he has stumbled upon through his years. He had just encountered another through his grandfather while he was cleaning out his attic for him. Dusting it off and studying the cover for a bit he noticed that he didn't recognize the name and the pages were very yellowed, more than how yellow they should be if his grandfather wrote in it. He dashed back down to his grandfather and asked who it was. Apparently it was a few more generations back, if he is to be believed then it was around the time of the Salem witch trials. Christopher hid his how-ever many greats grandmother's journal away and finished up cleaning. When he was finally finished he bolted to get to the journal to see what his great great something grandmother went through. That time period seemed to be very interesting, so hopefully he'll get some better insight. He carefully grabbed the journal, cozied up on a nice big comfy chair, and then opened it. As soon as he did that he felt himself get whisked away, he closed his eyes and covered his head to protect himself the best he could. Finally feeling his feet on solid ground he cautiously opened his eyes and stood up straight, he seemed to be in a time that was not his own. Townsfolk strolled past murmuring about the strange boy that was in the streets of their normal for the time town. He seemed to catch one eye's in particular though. She had offered him a place at her home for the night, she said that was all that he would need. He hesitated, but there wasn't much he could do in this time, so he had to follow the woman's lead. When they both got to the home she looked at him with a cheshire cat's grin, it was unsetting and implied that she knew something he didn't. She eventually spoke to him and seemed to know a lot about his family so far, a bunch of information about his cousins, grandfathers, and grandmothers. Christopher was unnerved about how much she knew, she said that it was just some plain old magic. That would have usually like a copout instead of a real explanation, but considering where or more accurately when he was right now it was probably more true than he would normally believe. Looking at her smug grin he knew that there was something magical about her, both literally and figuratively. He really hoped that she will use that sorcery of hers to return him back to his time though. {543}

Another year has gone by, all the joy, pain, sadness, and anger are all behind them now. Brooklyn is at the event that celebrates the founding of her quaint town, they say that the bonds that are made on that day will last forever because all of the first founders of that town stayed together until their deaths. She knew that it all was just an old wives tale, but why not try to make a friendship on this wondrous occasion, it couldn't hurt. Brooklyn looked around, there were so many clubs, but she didn't know if she could fit into any of them. Most of them were based around hobbies, but the only one she enjoy enough to do in her spare time is wood carving, and there didn't seem to be any that even resembled that. Brooklyn considered that maybe she could try a new hobby, it could be a good way to make friends, and you could only carve so many owls before it gets a little bit tedious, something new to shake up her free time routine would be sublime. She walked around listening into all of their conversations while glancing at some of the small little signs to welcome in people. The lion's share of them didn't mention people who didn't at least start the hobby. Eventually she saw one that said they were willing to teach others, it was calligraphy which seemed like it would be kind of difficult, but she thought if she tried hard enough she would be able to do it. Taking in a deep breathe she stepped towards them, ready to introduce herself. {273 words}

The stars were glittering overhead while the people below were singing and dancing without a care in the world. Tonight was a wonderful night for them, there were fireflies all around and people roasting marshmallows, everything was going well so far. Brooklyn also seemed to be doing quite well, she was dancing with one of her friends. Seeing them so joyful when they were hanging out with her made her heart flutter and she was in pure bliss. She had has a crush on this friend for a while now, never really telling them because she was scared it would ruin her friendship with them, but tonight all of her apprehension just seemed to melt away. Maybe it was because she had a little too much to drink, maybe it was because she just didn't feel as stressed out, but she was ready to tell them. As the song ended and the short silence between songs started she took the chance, her heart was racing and she was shaking a bit as she confessed her feelings. They didn't feel the same way though, hearing that shouldn't have been a surprise, but when she saw how uncomfortable they looked she knew that she had done something she shouldn't have. She didn't know how to deal with the guilt, at that moment she couldn't bare to see the other, so she turned tail and ran straight into the forest, she eventually slowed down when she reached a clearing. Her heavy breathing had subsided a bit as she sat down on the grass, just looking around at everything around her. Then Brooklyn noticed an owl right before it swooped down and killed a small mouse. She felt a little bit like that owl, she wasn't killing her ex friends, but she did always hurt them in some roundabout way. She remembers that most of them were just so tired after a while of being friends, just trying to figure out why she was becoming distant and never getting any answers. The owl cannot change, it would kill the little mice or some fish, it cannot just stop. She knew that she was not an owl, but that did not soothe her mind because some things just can't change, or maybe in her case just won't. Over and over again she ruins her friendships and it never seems to get better, no matter how hard she tries. She turned away from the owl, and looked up at the sky. It was about to be the dawn of a new day. She just admired the beauty of the sun and sky for a few minutes, then she made a promise to herself, try to be better with friendships. This will probably be like every other time she tried, but she held out a little bit of hope and no matter how little hope it was, it was still hope. {484 words}

Brooklyn was never a person who could make relationships last. Whether it is a romantic or a platonic one they always fall apart after two or three months. It was never the other that caused the problems, there was just something wrong with her. Not to say she wasn't a friendly or kind person, far from it. However, she always gets nervous that her friendships will end, and then it just becomes a self fulfilling prophecy. It was honestly pretty pathetic how nervous she got talking to them after a while, for most people it would become more comfortable after a while, but no she just had to be different. For her when a relationship starts it's easy and comfortable. "It's not like they can hurt me by leaving. I barely even know them." She would always say with confidence. Eventually though those relationships become important to her, and she cares about their opinion of her. She gets those annoying little voices in the back of her head, "You'd just annoy them if you talk to them now." And other dumb stuff like that. No matter how hard she tries to ignore them she always lets them get to her eventually. Then she stops talking to them as much and it leads to them drifting apart. Like clockwork she had just gotten another friend, and as surely as the sun rises in the east and sets in the west she had stopped talking to them as often due to fear of them hating her for being so clingy. She knows these fears are unfounded and just lead to the same outcome as she fears and tries to avoid. Knowing is half the battle, but although the war is winnable this battle is certainly not. Brooklyn mourned losing this friendship so soon, but she had already given up hope, and when that's gone all is lost. She has been so distant and it went on for over a month without any reason that they could see. They spoke about it together and they agreed that she hasn't been being that good of a friend. They said they were willing to give another chance though, and when Brook heard that it was like a miracle. It of course may not turn out well, but with their words there is a chance. She'll try her very best to be a better friend. Only time will tell if she is able to make a change and keep it, or if all of her friendships will stay only ephemeral. {Word count is 424}
