i braided lilies on my arms thinking blissfully, foolishly that it could replace my veins with beauty and purity and one day bloom
i was still in love, and i believe i was not to blame i didn’t want to think or remember your name for it rots and decays where my heart once stayed
severed from the source, scarified, and left to scorch my eyes withered with these tainted petals under foreign burning lights

This poem is also posted on my Tumblr, for the Sapphic June poetry challenge.
